SEN Nursery Practitoner

 A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join this incredible team of passionate and enthusiastic pedagogues in the role of SEN Nursery Practitioner Level 3 or 4.

Who we’re looking for:

  • We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified practitioner to work on a one-to-one basis with a child with special education needs. You will be based in our dedicated Infant and Toddler Centre or Pre-school but will move across the setting as the child moves from group to group.
  • Professional in your approach to working with others and with parents.
  • Work with other practitioners in the team to plan a meaningful educational experience for the child.
  • An understanding and a desire to learn about the child’s condition.
  • Patient, kind and empathic in your work with children.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • L3 or L4 childcare qualification – please check that your qualification is suitable and relevant before applying. We only employ qualified practitioners.
  • The post is also suitable for an EYT or EYPS
  • Knowledge of or willingness to train in Makaton
  • The right to work in the UK.

What the role involves:

  • SEN support to work with a child with Downs Syndrome, with hearing needs and who is non-verbal. The child is 3 years of age
  • To carry out the key person responsibilities including administrative and health and hygiene needs

Carry out the specific plans and activities of the EHC

Work with other professionals to support the health and learning needs of the child.

  • Develop a warm and open relationship with parents.
  • Attending staff meetings and training opportunities.
  • Develop plans and resources to a high standard.
  • This post is Term time only for 30 hours per week. There may be the opportunity for additional work covering for holidays across the setting during non-term.

Work Remotely

Job Types: Term time, the post may end if and when the child leaves the setting. There may be the opportunity for additional work covering for holidays across the setting during non-term at the prevailing rate for the role.

Part-time hours: 30 per week

Term time only requirement – £12.95/hr to £13.62/h per hour

Annual Leave: Pay for leave is included in the rate. It is expected that any leave taken will occur during non-term time.

Schedule:

  • 7.5-8 hours per day including a paid 30 min lunch break.
  • Four days from Monday to Friday – actual days depending on days booked by the family and to suit the operation of the nursery and pre-school

COVID-19 considerations:

All visitors are required to wear face masks and sanitise their hands. We operate small bubbles in physically separate buildings and spaces. Children are dropped off and collected outside by parents

Education:

  • GCSE or equivalent (preferred)

Experience:

  • Childcare: 2 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Level 3 Qualification in childcare (required)

Level 3 Nursery Practitioners – Full time and part time roles

Full time position of 40 hours per week and a part time only post of 20 to 30 hours per week.

Our standards are exceptionally high in all areas. We are expanding so seek highly motivated and qualified people to work in our Infant and Toddler Centre. Applicants must be professional in their approach to working with others and with parents. You must be a well dressed and well presented nursery practitioner and should have an understanding of the Reggio Emilia approach. You must be patient, kind and empathic in your work with children.

There are excellent promotion opportunities for the right people.

Responsibilities and Duties

Full time post role includes;

  • Working with children from 2 to 3 years of age.
  • To carry out the key person responsibilities including administrative and health and hygiene needs
  • Planning exciting activities for children
  • Developing excellent communication and relationship with parents
  • Attending staff meetings, training and open days
  • Maintaining the environment and resources to a very high standard

Essential Qualifications

L3 or L4 childcare qualification. Please check that your qualification is suitable and relevant before applying. Unqualified people need not apply.

The post does not require an EYT or EYPS qualification as we currently have three EYT’s on staff.
