EXPERIENCE
Learning beyond the classroom walls
We understand the importance of learning out of doors, the deep sensory and spiritual pleasure children get from engaging with nature.
“If we want children to flourish, to become truly empowered, then let us allow them to love the earth before we ask them to save it.”

Our gardens and wooded areas are a classroom too; one without walls, where the ceiling is the sky, where you can touch, you can run, you can climb, and you can shout! This is a classroom in which it is essential to dig, mix, transport, ride, balance and race.
All children spend lots of time out of doors every day, whatever the weather! Lessons outdoors are not dependent upon the weather, we believe there is no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothes.
Wonderful resources provide opportunities for risk taking with access to a well-stocked Tool Shed where children learn to use tools, such as real saws, hammers and drills. Gardening implements are provided to enable children to dig, water and grow plants.
A mud kitchen, water garden and climbing wall support the development of gross motor skills, whilst the nursery pets and raised beds teach children about care, nurture and responsibility.
The gardens of the Prepatoria really are the third teacher of the child.
