The Prepatoria difference

The foundation for our education begins with love and respect for the citizenship of the child, inspired by Reggio Emilia philosophies. But, what does it mean to be Reggio inspired?

Here’s what it means to us

Thinking of children as individuals. The child’s ideas and thoughts are valued, stimulating the planning process. The adults and children are co-conspirators on the learning journey. Loose parts are used as open-ended resources and provocation for play. All learning, all skills, all interests are valued.

And our image of the child?

Born with enormous potential.
Highly intelligent beings.
A citizen with rights.
A social being.
An inventor.
A discoverer.
A maker and a doer.
A spiritual being.
A learner from birth!

Our children are encouraged to use language to investigate and explore relationships and to reflect on their experiences. Our approach is fluid, living, changing and dynamic, and has earned an Ofsted Outstanding across the board.

The Prepatoria curriculum recognises the process, not the product of learning.

Our unique curriculum is not child-centred nor teacher-directed, but one which originates from the child; a ‘negotiated curriculum’ between the child, parents and teachers.
