My working holiday, in Italy, involved a trip to Reggio Emilia to the Loris Malaguzzi Study Centre. I was able to spend hours and hours reading about the history of Reggio Children, looking at the photographs of children’s work and studying an enormous collection of documentation produced by the pedagogistas. This trip was the realisation of a lifelong dream which had me completely awed and thrilled. I know that the trip, which builds upon my own research, teaching and formal training in the philosophies of Reggio Emilia, has inspired me to continue in my drive and determination to raise the status of children and childhood to first class citizenship.
